Take the training required to work as security guard in Ontario

The on-line program caters to work around student’s busy schedules. The course is based on the Ontario guidelines and is accessed in the virtual classroom. Upon completion of the training, students receive their training completion number so they can schedule their ministry exam.
To work security in Ontario, individuals need the mandatory training. This includes contract security guards for large and small security companies, bouncers, door staff, as well as in-house security guards.

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services requires a 40 hour curriculum. This includes an Introduction to the Security Industry, and covers The Private Security and Investigative Services Act and Ministry Code of Conduct, Basic Security Procedures, Report Writing, Health and Safety, Emergency Response Preparation, Canadian Legal Aspects, Legal Authorities, Effective Communication, Sensitivity Training, Use of Force Theory and Emergency Level First Aid.
This training must be completed through registered training entities in Ontario. Pillar is a registered training entity.
You will need your Training Completion #. The only way to get the Training Completion # is to complete the mandatory training through a registered training entity. Pillar Security Training is authorized by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services to train security guards and has everything you need to get your security licence.
Yes, as long as it conforms to the regulatory requirements. This program is based on the Ontario guidelines and will qualify you to write your ministry exam.
No. The first aid is largely practical and is taken through instructors with recognized credentials such as St. John’s or Red Cross. It is an 8 hour day in a traditional class setting and we arrange classes throughout the province. No matter where you are located, there will be a class available for this portion of the training somewhere close by. The cost of the first aid component is usually $80 - $100.
Students access the online classroom and complete online lessons. Lessons include videos, learning activities and resources. The lesson text is read to students, and each section has an online test to make sure students know the material they are being taught. Students also participate in online discussions, and can get help from instructors and support specialists. All helpdesk support is provided so students can get their technology questions answered easily by friendly, helpful support representatives.
Once you complete the student registration, Pillar will process the registration. Once your registration has been processed, you will receive a link to our training site with your username and password along with your instructions on how to get started.
